Hidden Gems
A trip, given as a sealed card. One link carries the surprise, then the countdown, then the journal you each keep while you are away, then the sheet you print when you are home.

Fill this in once and three things come back: a private link, a code they can scan, and a card to print and slide into an envelope. The whole trip is written into the link itself, so there is no account to make and nothing of yours sitting on anybody's server.
They open it once. Their name, a plane crossing the page, the destination arriving letter by letter, and underneath it the note you wrote them. It plays for nine seconds and then it lets them in.
The same link becomes the days left, the flight, the room, and the plan you made loosely. Anything you seal stays sealed until the morning it happens, so there is still something to find on the day.
You each keep one while you are away, photographs and all, and nothing is uploaded: the photographs sit on the phone that took them. When you want the other half of the trip, one of you sends their journal across as a single file and the other opens it. At the end it sets itself into a sheet to print and frame, and asks who is doing the surprising next time.
